CNPC Member Dave Reubush will be the guest speaker for the January meeting. Dave will give a slideshow of photos and details his two Dave is a retired NASA aerospace engineer and since retiring has taken up hobbies including scuba diving, travel, and photography. Dave and his wife made the first trip to Antarctica and enjoyed it so much they went a second time.

Please join us to hear his stories and see some great photos from his trips. Monday, January 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Kitzenger Room of the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Road, Williamsburg (the public library in Norge). Visitors welcome!

All the details are in the newsletter, but based on your last name, this is what you need to bring:
A through F—Bring a salad of some kind
G through M—Bring a veggie or side
N through Z—Bring a dessert

Bring your camera, take some photos. If a couple of you can come early to help set up, we appreciate it.

We always travel with Nature, yet focus on that topic far from home. Berna and I have had the good fortune to venture away from the ‘burg many times over the past several decades. I love to try to capture the visual and emotional feeling of new vistas. A camera captures what it sees, not what you see or feel. Often that reality has me buried in Photoshop till late hours of the night.

For this talk, I will examine highlights from several areas: Namibia, Tanzania, Patagonia, India and Morocco. I look forward to sharing some of my more distant travels with the club, but will recall the sights in our neighborhood.

Because Labor Day is on the first Monday of September, the meeting this month will be on the second Monday, September 12. Five members — Judy Jones, Terry Moore, John Jellings, David Beals, and Donnie Goodrich — will give short presentations with photos from trips they have taken.

The photo theme for September is Landscapes.

Meeting will be TUESDAY, August 2nd.

Guest speaker will be author and photography teacher David Everette presenting a program on Birds in Flight.

David has spent most of his forty years in photography photographing Richmond and the state of Virginia. He has produced a body of work that covers landscape, waterscape, scenic, and myriad other subject matter. He has also photographed the James River for more than thirty years and produced an abundance of images of its waterscapes and wildlife. After having a custom photo lab and managing another custom lab, he is now earns his living as a corporate photographer.’

Her program will show you how you can create beautiful pictures of flowers whether you are using a point and shoot or the latest DSLR. Patty is a nature and landscape photographer in the Washington, DC area. Her website, Beautifulflowerpictures.com has great information on taking flower and nature pictures, and her FaceBook page has over 600,000 fans! She leads workshops both indoors and out in and around the Eastern United States. Take time to stop and smell the flowers and join us on July 5th.

Join us Monday, April, 4 at 6:30 at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Rd., Williamsburg (Norge). Join us for the April meeting as wildlife photographer and founding club member Ken Conger presents: “The Bucket List Year”

Ken will present a buffet of spectacular photos captured during his 2015 adventures to Kenya/Tanzania, Chile, Finland, Madagascar and special locations in America. Outside of his wild-life photo tours, in 2015 Ken concentrated on capturing images of rare/endangered, special species on his “Bucket List”. Ken compliments his photos with stories, animal facts, audio and short videos.The program provides a view of a wildlife photographer’s world and the challenges taken in order to capture stunning wildlife images.

Join us Monday, February 1, at 6:30 for our next monthly meeting at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Rd., Williamsburg (the library in Norge). Our speaker will be Wayne Berry.

Wayne Berry, a retired captain from the Newport News Fire Department, was born and raised in Newark, NJ and currently lives in Hampton. He became interested in photography in the 70’s and started with a Polaroid camera and eventually 35mm film cameras. Trained in New York City, his photographic interests are Street Photography, Portraits and Cityscapes. Currently, Wayne serves as the president of Hampton Roads Digital Photography Club in Hampton, VA. He recently returned from the PhotoPlus Expo in New York and will talk about all the new and exciting things coming in the future for photographers.

Brian Lockwood aka ‘JetSki Brian’ will present at our next meeting, Monday, November 2, at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Rd., Williamsburg. The meeting starts at 6:30.
