February 6th Meeting: Rob Sabatini

Rob Sabatini

From Rob: “I am an amateur photographer who resides in Richmond Virginia. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York I had little exposure to wildlife but fondly remember trips to the country and occasional encounters with deer, frogs and salamanders. For most of my life my interest in photography was limited to travel and family where I developed rudimentary skills with a variety of film cameras but was never satisfied with the results obtainable through commercial developing that lacked the opportunity to process and edit my photos. A collision of opportunities including the explosion of digital photography, the discovery of a heron rookery on the James River, and the gift of mentorship resulted in my avid interest in wildlife photography. It is an honor for me to discuss and share some of my experiences and photographs from both local and travel venues with photographers of all skill levels that range from the few I might be able to help to the many that I can learn from.” In his spare time, Rob Sabatini is a periodontist and retired Air Force colonel who received his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1981 and returned to the School of Dentistry as a professor in the department of periodontics after his military retirement in 2005.

The meeting is at 6:30 at the James City County Library, 7770 Croaker Rd., Williamsburg. It is free and open to the public.

The member photo theme is Silhouettes and Shadows.
